Felix Places Fifth in Heptathlon

Monique Felix led the Gophers in the heptathlon at the Jim Click Shootout Friday.
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Monique Felix scored 5,228 points to lead the Golden Gopher track & field team with a fifth-place finish in the heptathlon at the Jim Click Shootout hosted by the University of Arizona on Friday.
In her heptathlon debut for the Maroon & Gold, Felix moved her into sixth among all-time Gophers in the event; her score was just 59 points shy of her career-best score of 5,287, which she set during the 2017 season while competing for Marquette.
Felix was in fifth place at the conclusion of day one of the meet with 3,147 points. Day two of competition on Friday saw her tie for eighth in long jump (5.44m, 17-10.25), place seventh in javelin (35.96m, 117-11), and take fourth in the 800m (2:21.12) on the way to her fifth-place finish.
Allison Gerads also completed her first collegiate heptathlon, scoring 4,878 points for 12th place at the meet. After entering day two of the meet with 3,015 points, Gerads recorded career-best marks in javelin (35.58m, 116-08) and the 800m (2:34.30) to wrap up the event after posting a mark of 5.29m (17-04.25) in long jump.Â
Hannah Arason also competed in the heptathlon but did not finish. She recorded a career-best mark of 5.09m (16-08.50) in long jump and finished second in javelin (40.53m, 132-11) but did not compete in the 800m.
A full day of competition wraps up the Jim Click Shootout on Saturday.
