Gophers Set for National Competitions

Members of the Golden Gopher track & field team are set to compete at a pair of national competitions this week.
MINNEAPOLIS -- Members of the Golden Gopher track & field team are set to compete at a pair of national competitions this week. Gophers Ayesha Champagnie, Nayoka Clunis, and Lorean Murray and Minnesota alumna Titania Markland are set to compete at the 2019 JAAA National Senior Championships while Amira Young races the 100-meter dash at the USA Track & Field U20 Outdoor Championships in Miramar, Fla.
2019 JAAA National Senior Championships
The 2019 JAAA National Senior and Junior Championships are set for June 20-23 at National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.
Clunis and Champagnie competed unattached during the 2019 collegiate track & field season. Meanwhile, Murray wrapped up her sophomore season ranked fourth in triple jump (13.02m, 42-08.75) and seventh in long jump (6.01m, 19-08.75) among all-time Gophers. Markland served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Gophers this season; she still holds Minnesota's outdoor program record in the 400m at 51.40 seconds.

USATF U20 Outdoor Championships
After an outstanding freshman season for the Maroon & Gold, Young races at the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships this weekend. The competition runs Friday through Sunday at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Fla.
Young earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors with a runner-up finish in the 100m dash and ended her rookie season tied for the Minnesota program record in the 100m (11.37) and ranked third in Minnesota history in the 200m (23.59). She finished 22nd in the 100m (11.57) at the NCAA Championships as well.
