MINNEAPOLIS -- Amanda Leveille has announced her return to the Minnesota Whitecaps for the 2019-20 NWHL season. The two-time Isobel Cup champion and 2018 Goaltender of the Year is the first Gopher alumna to sign with the NWHL for the upcoming season.

"I have the greatest respect and admiration for what the Whitecaps program represents and what it has built for women's hockey players over the past 15 years," Leveille said in a statement from the NWHL. "It has produced sold out crowds, an Isobel Cup, a Clarkson Cup, and the first team in NWHL history to generate a profit. I will do my part in the NWHL and to continue to grow girls' hockey at the youth and professional levels through my availability and visibility to the hockey community."

After beginning her NWHL career by spending two seasons with the Buffalo Beauts, Leveille returned to Minnesota for the Whitecaps' inaugural season in 2018-19. The Kingston, Ontario native backstopped the Whitecaps to the league's regular season title and Isobel Cup championship. She posted career bests in nearly every statistical category, recording a .929 save percentage – including an impressive .966 mark in the playoffs – and finishing with a 1.96 goals-against average and a 13-4 record. After captaining one of the league's 2017 All-Star teams, Leveille was once again selected for NWHL All-Star Weekend in Nashville in 2018.

In four years with the Gophers from 2012-13 to 2015-16, Leveille posted an overall record of 98-9-5 with 32 shutouts. Her career goals against average of 1.18 remains the best in Minnesota history and was second in WCHA and NCAA history when she graduated. The Kingston, Ontario native also ranks second in Minnesota history in both career shutouts and career wins, trailing only Noora Raty (114-17-8 with 43 shutouts).

In addition to playing for the Whitecaps, Leveille is the director of goaltending at Os Hockey in the Twin Cities.
