The University of Minnesota men's basketball team will host Clemson University in the 2019 Big Ten/ACC Challenge, as the two conferences along with ESPN unveiled the event matchups Thursday.

The Gophers and Tigers will meet on Monday, December 2 at Williams Arena, with game time and television broadcast information to be announced at a later date.

This will be the eighth matchup between the Gophers and Tigers and third in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, including a 89-83 Minnesota win at Williams Arena in the 2015 iteration of the event. The Gophers also lost at home, 90-68, in the 2006 Challenge in Minneapolis. Four games between the two teams from 1993-1997 were later vacated, while the inaugural meeting in 1974 was a Gophers home win, 66-52.

Minnesota is 9-11 all-time in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, including a 3-3 mark under seventh-year head coach Richard Pitino. The Maroon and Gold will look to snap a three-game winless skid in the series after winning the previous five in a row.

Clemson won 20 games last season, and is coming off a second-round loss in the National Invitation Tournament. The Tigers finished 9-9 in the ACC last season, tying for ninth place among the 15-team conference, but lose their three top scorers including a pair of All-ACC honorees.

The home game against Clemson adds to a challenging non-conference slate for the Gophers, with neutral site matchups against Oklahoma (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Oklahoma State (Tulsa, Okla.) along with road games at Utah and Butler previously announced. The full non-conference schedule will be released later this summer.
