Katie Robinson
This summer I have been quite busy during the week. I am working at Johnson Brothers Liquor Company as an Operations Intern, taking a business communication class, and skating/lifting. On the weekends I enjoy my time off and hang out with my friends. I have gone up to Taylor Williamson's cabin a couple times and have had a blast wake surfing and relaxing. At the end of August, I will be going on our family's annual vacation up at a resort called Eagle's Nest Lodge. I have had a wonderful summer, but I am so excited to start the season up again!
Patti Marshall
At the beginning of the summer I traveled to Norway for two weeks, which was awesome...my first time going to Europe to not play hockey! Since returning I have been coaching the Minneapolis High School girls team with Alex Woken, skating, working out, shadowing (dentists), and studying. I took an online class and a prep course for the DAT, which I took the beginning of August. I went to Chicago to visit Sophie Skarzynski which was so fun seeing her, visited Sydney Peters at her house on Lake Minnetonka, and went to Taylor Williamson's cabin for Sierra Smith's bachelorette party. I went to USA Hockey camp in Lake Placid, too. My summer is coming to an end really fast, but I am looking forward to my senior year.
Taylor Wente
To kick off the summer, I went to Arizona with my boyfriend, Josh, and his family. I spent this summer living at home. I worked out at the U, trained with boys hockey development camp in Maple Grove, and took two online classes. I worked the Gopher Camp as well as coaching Maple Grove High School girls hockey team. We took a family vacation to Alexandria. We're taking another family vacation at the end of the summer to Brainerd. I'm enjoying time with family and friends doing fun things Minnesota has to offer.
Olivia Knowles
This summer I have been working as server, at both Moxies Bar and Grill and Storey Creek Golf Course. I've also been taking a leadership class online and training full time. I haven't had many days off, but my favorite part of summer so far is spending time at Savary Island, which is about a 45 minute boat trip from the island I live on. It has white sand beaches that go for miles, and it's very secluded -- the perfect getaway.
Alex Woken
This summer I have been busy, but I can't really say with what. I took two classes, cell biology and personal leadership, so those kept me pretty busy. I have been helping coach the Minneapolis High School girls hockey team, which has been really fun to get to know the girls and be around more hockey. I have made it up to the lake a couple times to hang out with my dogs (and parents).
Catie Skaja
I took an online Personal Leadership class and worked as a nanny five days a week. I went to lakefront days, cabins, hung out with friends, and worked out five days a week. I went to UTC, which stands for Ultimate Training Camp, for a week. I have swam, ran, and took a lot of walks with my dogs. I have played hockey two to five times a week. That's about all I have done this summer.
Grace Zumwinkle
This summer I have been spending a lot of time outside with family and friends. Additionally, I have been doing a lot of skating and training, but I love to play golf, tennis, and pickleball with my family in my free time. I have been helping coach at a few places as well this summer, which has been super fun. My family has a boat on Lake Minnewashta, so we enjoy it when it is nice outside. I have gone on a few trips this summer as well. Earlier in the summer, I went out to Middlebury College in Vermont to visit my sister, went to NYC with my mom and sisters, and then up to my cousins' cabin in Wisconsin.
Kippin Keller
This summer I've been spending a lot of time with family and friends. I have been filling in work with Twirl events, as well as nannying two very cute kids -- Mila (3) and Hunter (7 months). I am currently six months out from surgery and am working hard to get back to full strength! I have been doing lots of physical therapy, biking, and recently more skating! I have been up to a few of my friends' cabins and have been enjoying my time out on the lake. :)
Emily Brown
This summer I have been busy on the ice and in the weight room and also in the classroom and in the lab. I took a Thermodynamics class this summer, which was interesting. I also had an awesome experience completing an internship at the Earl E. Bakken Medical Devices Center on campus. I worked in a team to design a wearable athletic sensor integrated into existing contact sport equipment. I have also been able to travel quite a bit this summer. In May, I went on a trip to Australia with two friends to visit one of our friends who was studying abroad. I also went to Chicago two separate times -- one with my family and one with LeadershipU. On quite a few weekends, I was able to go up north to a good friend's cabin and wake surf and enjoy time on the lake. While summer has been fun, I am excited for my junior year here at the U and the season to get started!
Abigail Boreen
This summer has been full of a lot of fun events. I spent my free time on the lake, wakeboarding, jet skiing, and paddle boarding. I go into train at the U and from there I head to work. I am working two jobs this summer at OS hockey where I help coach an eight-week hockey camp. I'm also working as a trainer at Acceleration, which is for athletes to help improve their strength, agility, and speed. I train athletes aging from 8-19 and a variety of sports. It has been a great experience so far! Lastly, I coached Frosty's camp this summer and enjoyed getting to know the girls! This summer I took online psychology to help continue my academic path. I went on vacation with my family to Gull Lake, and it was very relaxing to spend time with family up north. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone and getting back on the ice!
Sarah Potomak
This summer I have been spending time with my family, and this past July my nephew was born! I have been training, doing school, and working on our hay farm. I also have been teaching kids Sunday school at my church. I've traveled to Kelowna a few times where I played my high school hockey to visit friends, but I am looking forward to getting back to the U!
Olivia King
This summer I have been spending time back and forth from campus and home! When I am home, I enjoy being on the lake swimming, fishing, and boating with friends. I also have been training and coaching as well, which often keeps me busy during the week when I am on campus. In addition to those things, I went to Chicago and saw my older brother graduate from Navy basic and visited him for the weekend with my family. Although my summer has been fun, I am looking forward to an exciting school year and hockey season!
Taylor Heise
My summer has been very interesting to say the least! It started out very eventful and full of hockey and then mono hit me. I was out for a solid month and a week. I came in everyday when I was sick and did rehab with Erin. My parents were thinking about getting a dog, and then decided not to... which was a bummer! I had a great time at August fest with USA Hockey, too!
Sydney Scobee
This summer I interned with a wedding planner and learned so much about how to plan a fairytale wedding! Other than attending weddings this summer, I could be found out on the lake hanging out with friends or with Erin Moore rehabbing my shoulder. I traveled to Mexico in May with a friend after school ended for a little relaxation.
Amy Potomak
Spending time with my family! Sarah and I recently became aunties to a beautiful little boy, Ryker Potomak. We both worked during this summer on the farm, helping our dad with the hay field. We also went on a small vacation to Kelowna, B.C. to visit our friends from high school and spend some time on Lake Okanagan.
Emily Oden
This summer I spent a lot of time up north at my cabin in McGregor, MN. At the cabin we did a lot of skiing, surfing, tubing, beach volleyball and the annual Sam Oden Memorial Triathlon. During the week I lived on campus with teammates Taylor Heise, Catie Skaja, Gracie Ostertag and Jackie Pieper. My weekdays were extremely busy with morning workouts, daily skates, coaching youth hockey, and tutoring for the class I took this summer, which was Intro to Psychology. Another thing that we did during the week was go bowling every Tuesday with some of my teammates and some of the guys on the men's hockey team. Then towards the end of summer I got myself a set of golf clubs, so I have been trying to pick up that now. I also spent some time at my sister's house in Grand Rapids where we rode her horses.
Makayla Pahl
This summer I did a lot of driving back and forth from Rochester to come train on campus in the summer, but when I wasn't training in the cities I was at home spending time with my family and friends. I also worked during the summer at a baseball field, and I joined a church league softball team. I mostly trained on campus.
