Several Gopher women's hockey alums are among the players participating in the PWHPA.
MINNEAPOLIS --Ā Several Gopher women's hockey alums are among the professional women's hockey players spending the 2019-20 season participating in the Professional Women's Hockey Players' Association (PWHPA).
The PWHPA has launched the Dream Gap Tour, which is a series of showcase events played with the mission of closing the gap between what boys and girls can aspire to achieve, and the first event is this weekend in Toronto, Ontario. Select PWHPA members are also taking part in a pair of exhibition games against Boston College (Saturday in Chestnut Hill, Mass.) and the San Jose Sharks alumni (Sunday in Chicago).
Unifor Showcase, Toronto, Ontario (Sept. 20-22)
Gophers alumna Megan BozekĀ will compete with Team Jenner as the PWHPA members split into four teams for four games on Saturday and Sunday at Westwood Arena in Toronto, Ontario.
Team PWHPA vs. Boston College, Chestnut Hill, Mass. (Sept. 21)
The stars of the PWHPA New England region visit Boston College for an exhibition game at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday. Admission is free.
Team PWHPA vs. Sharks Alumni, San Jose, Calif. (Sept. 22)
Sharks Fan Fest 2019 includes the Legends Game featuring Sharks alumni and the PWHPA immediately following Fan Fest. Gopher alumnaeĀ Noora Raty, Lee Stecklein, Dani Cameranesi, Hannah Brandt, Kelly Pannek, and Gigi Marvin are all set to take part in the game in San Jose, Calif.
Team PWHPA vs. Magicians U18 Fall Team (Sept. 27)
Prior to the Minnesota Magicians' season-opener, members of the PWHPA will scrimmage against the Magicians' U-18 Fall Team at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27 at Richfield Ice Arena.
The Dream Gap Tour also includes stops in Hudson, N.H. (Oct. 5-6) and Chicago (Oct. 18-20).
