SERIES, ETC.
This afternoon's 75-67 win was the 151st all-time meeting between Minnesota and Michigan (not counting vacated games), with the Wolverines leading the series, 90-61 (Minnesota leads 40-31 in Minneapolis). The victory improved the Gophers to 2-1 versus Top 25 teams this season, with both wins coming at Williams Arena, and it was Minnesota's first home win against Michigan since an 83-78 overtime victory on Feb. 19, 2017. Minnesota improved to 9-7 overall and 3-3 in the Big Ten, while No. 19 Michigan fell to 11-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference. Coach Richard Pitino is 2-10 versus the Wolverines. Minnesota's all-time record now stands at 1,496-1,120 overall and 764-838 in the B1G (not counting vacated games). Coach Pitino's seventh-year record at Minnesota is 121-99, and his eight-year career mark is 139-113. Today's game was the middle game of three-straight against nationally-ranked opponents for the Gophers.
STARTING FIVE
Coach Pitino utilized a starting lineup of senior Alihan Demir (15th start at Minnesota, 70th career start), redshirt junior Payton Willis (12th start at Minnesota, 28th career start), redshirt sophomore Marcus Carr (16th start at Minnesota, 43rd career start), sophomore Gabe Kalscheur (52nd career start), and sophomore Daniel Oturu (47th career start).
FIRST HALF RECAP
Minnesota closed the half with an 11-1 run over the final 4:52 to cut an 11-point deficit to one, 31-30, at the break. Daniel Oturu had his best scoring half of his career, as he connected on 9-of-12 field goals to lead all scorers with 20 points. Oturu also led the Gophers with five rebounds. Marcus Carr played the entire 20 minutes and had six assists, five points and four boards for the Gophers. Minnesota made 13-of-28 field goals, including nine of its final 18 attempts of the half, and the Gophers held a 22-12 advantage on points in the paint.
OTURU HAS CAREER-HIGH
Daniel Oturu, who leads the Big Ten in double-doubles and rebounding, turned in the best scoring output of his career. Oturu connected on 13-of-18 field goals to finish with 30 points and seven rebounds in 35 minutes, which included 20 points in the first half. It's the first career 30-point game for Oturu, and he becomes the third Minnesota player with a 30-point game this season. Marcus Carr had 35 points versus Ohio State on Dec. 15, and Gabe Kalscheur went for 34 points versus Oklahoma State on Dec. 21. The 13 field goals made and 18 field goal attempts were both career-highs for Oturu. Over his past nine games, Oturu has combined to make 83-of-129 (.643) field goals, and he's recorded double-doubles in six of his past eight games.
CARR GOES FOR DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Marcus Carr recorded his second double-double of the season, as he finished with 21 points and tied his career-high with 12 assists in 40 minutes. The assist total ties for fifth all-time at Minnesota and is the most for a Gophers player since Isaiah Washington had 13 assists versus North Florida on Dec. 11, 2018. Carr becomes the first Minnesota player with 20 points and 10 assists in a game since Nate Mason had 31 points and 11 assists at Purdue on Jan. 1, 2017. Carr also had 12 assists in a game at Miami on Jan. 31, 2018, while playing for the Pittsburgh Panthers. It was the 12th double-figure scoring output this season.

Demir made 4-of-6 field goals and was 5-of-6 at the free throw line on a day when the Gophers made just 55.6 percent (15-of-27) at the line.
