Over the past weekend, Minnesota defeated No. 19 ranked Michigan at Williams Arena, 75-67; however, the Gophers weren't the only winners walking out of the Barn on Sunday afternoon. Sunday's match-up was Fan Appreciation Day for the Maroon and Gold, and the Gopher faithful showed up, with more than 10,000 people in attendance of the significant victory

Two hours before the game, the doors to Maturi Pavilion were opened for all attending fans. In the Pav was a Fan Fest, set up with an assortment of different foods and drinks from various sponsors, yard games, giant inflatables, and discounts to numerous restaurants and vendors around the area. The event was also attended by everyone's favorite gopher, Goldy.

During the game, Gopher fans experienced many other fun, exciting events and giveaways as well. There were twice as many giveaways, including the Holiday mini ball toss and Caribou Coffee 'Tweet Your Seat', prizes rained down from the rafters connected to parachutes, including memorabilia, gift cards, and much more, and the halftime entertainment included an absolutely dominant performance in the baby race from potential future Gopher Marley Reynolds.

The players were also excited for Sunday, and they showed it on the court. Daniel Oturu had a career-high performance in points scored with 30, Marcus Carr had the first 20-10 point-assist double double since Nate Mason had 33 points and 11 assists in 2017, and most importantly, the Maroon and Gold walked away with another tally in the win column.

Oturu also expressed his gratefulness towards the fans post game, saying, "It's a blessing to be able to be in a situation like this. I'm a home‐state kid and having everyone standing up showing that they care, means a lot. I just want to win for our fans."

All of these events and giveaways were set up for one reason only: to honor the loyalty, dedication, and love from the Gopher faithful every time they step through the doors at Williams Arena.
