Oturu Earns Spot on Sporting News Midseason All-America Team

Minnesota sophomore center Daniel Oturu was recognized as one of the top players in the nation this week, earning a spot on The Sporting News Midseason All-America team. Oturu was placed on the third team, one of 15 players total earning a nod.
Oturu has produced one of the best statistical seasons of anyone in the country to date midway through the college basketball calendar. The Woodbury, Minn., native is fifth in NCAA Division I and tops in the Big Ten pulling down 12.1 rebounds per game, while he ranks second in the conference and 21st nationally at 20.3 points per game.
He leads the conference and ranks fourth in the nation with 11 double-doubles, while leading the country in 20-10 games with seven. His 62.3 field goal percentage leads the Big Ten and ranks 12th overall.
Oturu and the Gophers return to action on the road Sunday at noon CT, traveling to Rutgers.
