Minnesota to Kick-Off Spring Season in Montana

The University of Minnesota women's tennis team will open up the 2020 spring season this Saturday against the Montana Grizzlies at 10:00 a.m. CST in Missoula, Mont., at PEAK Racquet Club. The University of Utah Utes will also join the Gophers and Grizzlies for a weekend of duals. Minnesota and Utah will face off on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. CST.
Three Gophers look to make their spring debut this weekend. Freshmen Ekin Ercetin and Lucia de Santa Ana both showcased victorious fall seasons and look to continue their success. Redshirt freshman, Dalila Said will also make her first appearance wearing the Maroon and Gold. Previously at Georgia Tech, Said had a combined 15 wins and advanced to the singles round of 16 at the ITA Southeast Regionals during the 2018-19 season.
In their last meeting with the Utah Utes, the Gophers fell 3-4 despite a close battle and look to turn the result around this weekend. Minnesota downed Montana last season with a 7-0 sweep with wins from Tina Kreinis, Cammy Frei, River Hart, and Tiffany Huber.
"We are looking forward to getting our spring season underway this weekend," head coach Catrina Thompson said. "We will face two quality opponents on the road, but we are ready for the challenge and excited to get back on the courts and compete together as a team."
