Gophers to Celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day

Celebrate NGWSD at select upcoming Gopher athletic events.

MINNEAPOLIS – The Golden Gophers are pleased to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day once again this year. Gopher Athletics will offer special ticket pricing in conjunction with the nationwide celebration of Girls and Women in Sports along with holding special opportunities for youth at home events. Minnesota's NGWSD programming is sponsored by WellHaven Pet Health, a local full service pet hospital and proud sponsor of Gopher Athletics.
 
The Gophers' NGWSD celebration schedule is listed below, and tickets for each event are available for just $5.
 
Friday, January 31
  • Women's Hockey vs. Minnesota Duluth, 7 p.m. at Ridder Arena
Saturday, February 1
  • Women's Hockey vs. Minnesota Duluth, 4 p.m. at Ridder Arena
  • Women's Tennis vs. Northern Iowa and North Dakota, 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Baseline Tennis Center - FREE admission
Sunday, February 2
  • Women's Basketball vs. Rutgers, 2 p.m. at Williams Arena
Saturday, February 8
  • Women's Gymnastics vs. Iowa, 6 p.m. at Maturi Pavilion
Special programming for girls of all ages will be available throughout the weekend. Following the women's hockey game on Saturday, February 1, all youth in attendance are invited to the ice to take a shot on goal. Arrive early to the women's basketball game on Sunday, February 2 and participate in the pregame tunnel team as head coach Lindsay Whalen and the team take the floor. Finally, pictures with Goldy will be available prior to the women's gymnastics meet on Saturday, February 8 as well as post-meet autographs.
 
In addition to these exciting activities, FREE Minnesota bag tags are available to youth in attendance at all women's events during the Gophers' NGWSD events. The bag tags can be picked up at any of marketing tables while supplies last.
