Four Gophers Named to Softball America Top-100

Fiser comes in at No. 7
Four Gophers earned a spot on the Softball America 2020 College Top-100 list, the outlet announced Thursday.
The Gophers tied for the fifth most representatives in the entire country in the second year of the Softball America Top-100 list. Three teams have five and Oklahoma has the most with six. Minnesota also tops the Big Ten for the most players on the list.
Ace Amber Fiser is the top Big Ten player on the entire list. She comes in at No. 7, well ahead of the No. 63 spot she came in a season ago as the Gophers lone 2019 representative. Softball America noted that Fiser led the way to the Gophers first-ever WCWS run in the NCAA softball era. She did so by going 5-0 through regionals and super regionals play. She was an All-American, Honda Cup Finalist and the Big Ten Pitcher of the Year in 2019. The Van Horne, Iowa native is currently fifth in program history with 72 career wins and fifth in strikeouts with 666.
Natalie DenHartog comes in at No. 40 on the list after making a splash as a freshman. The Hopkins, Minn. native provided the Gophers lineup with a power boost in her first season. She hit .373, with 17 doubles, two triples and 17 home runs with a team leading 64 RBIs and a .780 slugging percentage. She earned First Team All-Region and First Team All-Big Ten honors and was an NFCA Top-3 Freshman of the Year finalist in 2019.
Not far behind is Hope Brandner at No. 46 on the list. Brandner held down the heart of the lineup with DenHartog after transferring to Minnesota from Oregon State. She led team with 19 home runs which is the third highest mark in program single season history. She earned First Team All-Big Ten honors, Second Team All-Region honors and was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament team. She launched an eighth inning walk-off home run against Georgia in regionals during the Gophers run to the WCWS.
MaKenna Partain continues to be one of the quietest stars in the entire country. She landed at spot No. 57 on the list after leading the Gophers in batting average (.383), runs (66), hits (72), triples (4) and on base percentage (.484) in 2019. Her 66 runs set a Minnesota single season record. She also set a Minnesota and Big Ten record with five runs scored in a game at Maryland. She was named First Team All-Big Ten and Second Team All-Region last season.
