Q&A with Bryan Greenlee

1/29/2020 10:51:00 AM | Men's Basketball

This originally ran in the Dec. 28 game program against FIU. Interview by Matt Little, Athletic Communications Student Assistant

Gopher Sports: What made you choose Minnesota?
Greenlee: I really like Coach P, I love the campus and I just felt like this was the best place for me. I knew that I have a skill set I could bring in and contribute, so I felt like this was a great fit for me.

GS: We've heard that cutting hair is one of your hobbies. How did that start for you?
Greenlee: Honestly, I got tired of paying for haircuts. I really didn't have a passion for it when I first started, but I would practice on myself and one of my friends back home. Just over time watching YouTube videos and practicing, I actually got nice at it and I like doing it now. I still cut my own hair, and some guys on the team as well. I've cut Marcus's hair multiple times, and my three roommates:  Tre', Sam and Isaiah.

GS: Describe yourself in three words.
Greenlee: Confident, swaggy and funny.

GS: Who's the best 2k player on the team?
Greenlee: Honestly, I don't know. I haven't played against anybody, and I'm not really a big 2k guy. I've heard that Eric is pretty good.

GS: If you could play any other sport, what would you play?
Greenlee: Football. I didn't play in high school, but only because the high school I went to was too small to have a football team. I've always loved football, and, if I would've kept playing, I probably would've gone D1. I was a really good running back when I used to play.

GS: When did you start playing basketball, and when did it become a passion for you?
Greenlee: I started in YMCA when I was five or six years old. It really became a passion for me around sixth or seventh grade. I transferred to [The Rock School] in seventh grade, and that's when I started to really take it seriously and knew that I could make something out of it.

GS: Coach has said you're a "pest" on the ball.
Greenlee: I mean, since I'm a small guard I have to be. I feel like that describes me really well, and it's obviously something I have to get better at it. If I want to play professionally or even succeed here, I need to be a great defender.
