Former Gophers Helped Chiefs Win Super Bowl 50 Years Ago

Bobby Bell made two tackles in Super Bowl win, while Aaron Brown made one sack
The Kansas City Chiefs will play in the Super Bowl on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. The Chiefs first and only Super Bowl win came 50 years ago when they defeated the Minnesota Vikings, 23-7, in New Orleans.
This year, former Gopher Damien Wilson is a star linebacker for the Chiefs and is looking to become the first Gopher to win a Super Bowl since Matt Spaeth did so with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2009.
Fifty years ago, the Chiefs featured three former Gophers on its roster in Bobby Bell, Aaron Brown and Bob Stein. Bell and Brown both started on defense in the Super Bowl, while Stein was in his rookie season in Kansas City.
Bell, who was recently named to the NFL 100 All-Time Team, recorded two tackles in the victory against the Vikings. Brown, who tragically passed away in 1997, also notched a sack as the Chiefs claimed the sport's ultimate prize.
