Minnesota native has started all 38 games of his career and is a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar
Conner Olson has been selected as a semifinalist for the 2020 William V. Campbell Trophy, the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced this week.
Celebrating its 31st year, the award recognizes a senior or graduate student in his final year of playing eligibility as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership. The NFF will announce 12-to-14 finalists in November, and each of them will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship. Later this year, one member of the class will be declared as the winner of the 31st Campbell Trophy, having his postgraduate scholarship increased to $25,000 and receiving a 25-pound-bronze version of the iconic statue.
Olson has already graduated with a double major in Human Physiology and Biology, Society and Environment.
He is currently working toward an advanced degree in Public Health Administration & Policy MPH, which is a full-time, two year program that focuses on building skills in policy development and advocacy; project, program, and organization management; and data analysis and management.
Olson, who plans to attend medical school, is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten performer and was named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar last season. He has also started in all 38 games he has played in and has blocked for some of Minnesota's most prolific offenses in recent history.
