Samedy Invited to Train with USA Volleyball This March

Updated on March 13, 2020 - Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the U.S. Women's National Team has cancelled its Spring Training Camp in Anaheim that included 17 athletes with collegiate eligibility in the 2019 season training with six veterans of the Team USA program. The Red-Blue spring training was also canceled as well.
Junior opposite hitter Stephanie Samedy is one of 16 collegiate athletes invited to train with USA Volleyball in a joint training camp with Japan, March 14-21 in Anaheim, Calif. These 16 participants as well as members of the U.S. National Team will train and eventually compete in an exhibition match on March 20 at Santiago Canyon College in Orange, Calif.
While rosters for both USA and Japan have not been confirmed, the American roster will be composed mostly of college student-athletes who will be joining Spring Training Camp in Anaheim. Several U.S. Women's National Team members will also be in training at that time in Anaheim, including Olympians Jordan Larson, Foluke Akinradewo and Rachael Adams, along with Tori Dixon.
Samedy completed her junior year of eligibility when she helped the Golden Gophers to a Final Four appearance in 2019. A Second Team All-American and First Team All-Big Ten honoree, Samedy was also an Academic All-Big Ten selection. Playing in 115 of 118 sets last season, she led the Gophers in kills (353), kills per set (3.07) and attempts (1002). She also averaged 0.93 blocks per set, had 23 aces and 299 digs. The Clermont, Fla., native has also played on USA's Collegiate National Teams in China and Italy. Prior to her time with Minnesota, She also played with USA Volleyball's Youth National Team and Junior National Teams.
