Linebacker led Minnesota with 8.75 tackles per game in 2019
Four University of Minnesota football players – Carter Coughlin, Tyler Johnson, Kamal Martin and Antoine Winfield Jr. – have been invited to participate in the 2020 NFL Combine.
A total of 337 prospects were invited to attend the annual event, which is taking place this week.
In advance of the annual event, we will take a look at each of the four Gophers invited to participate. Today, we take a look at Martin.
Martin played in 45 career games at Minnesota and made 177 tackles (106 solo), 13 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. He picked off four passes and broke up another nine. Martin also recovered four fumbles and forced three as a Gopher.
Martin battled injuries during the 2019 season and played in only eight games. However, his 66 tackles tied for second most on the team and his 8.25 tackles-per-game led Minnesota. He was named All-Big Ten Honorable Mention and received the team's Gary Tinsley Award, for his underdog mentality.
