Gophers Cruise Past Cal Poly, Fall to No. 1 UCLA

The No. 18/19 University of Minnesota Gophers sped around the base path in a 10-0 run-rule victory over Cal Poly and fell to No. 1/1 UCLA, 4-0, with a fourth inning grand slam making the difference in the game.
Game One: Minnesota 10, Cal Poly 0 (5 innings)
After coming into the afternoon with 10 stolen bases on the season, the Gophers flew around the base path in a 10-0 run-rule victory over Cal Poly with seven stolen bases in the game.
Amber Fiser was one strike away from a perfect game. She tossed a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts in the shutout win. She is 9-7 on the season with an ERA of 2.23 and 132 strikeouts.
MaKenna Partain continued her chase for the all-time Minnesota runs record. She walked three times and was hit by one pitch with no official at-bat in the game. She stole two bases and scored four runs. The first came by way of an Emily Hansen single to left that also scored Ellee Jensen. Partain is third all-time in Minnesota history with 183 career runs.
The pair of Partain and Jensen wreaked havoc all afternoon. Partain scored again in the second off a Natalie DenHartog RBI-single to right center. Jensen kept the scoring rolling in the third with a single through the right side to score Partain and Brooke Vander Heide.
DenHartog capped off a five-run third inning with her seventh home run of the season. She leads the team with seven home runs and 24 RBIs with a .414 batting average and a .757 slugging percentage.
Ali Lindner stepped in to pinch hit in the fourth inning and blasted a double off the wall in left to bring in the final two runs of the game for the Gophers.
Game Two: UCLA 4, Minnesota 0
Autumn Pease saw the start against No. 1/1 UCLA and sat down the prolific offense in order through the first three innings. She went six innings and finished with seven strikeouts in the loss. She is now 4-2 overall on the season.
UCLA broke the pitcher's duel in the fourth inning. They placed back-to-back singles and put one on with an error before a grand slam took the wind out of the Minnesota sails.
Hansen and Sydney Strelow each recorded doubles in the loss.
