Gophers alumna and assistant coach Molly Rouse has been named the head coach of Dixie State University, the Trailblazers announced today.
"I am very excited for Molly and this opportunity for her to step into a head coaching role," head coach Stef Golan said. "Molly was an excellent player for the Gophers and she came back to invest in a new generation of Gophers as a coach in passionate and intentional ways. She has worked her way up the ladder to earn this opportunity, and she has gained invaluable experience throughout her journey. Molly is an excellent coach, she invests in her student-athletes as people, and she is ready to successfully transition into a head coaching role. I am proud of the coach she has become. We will miss her in Minnesota, we are thankful for our time with her, and we will be cheering for her!"
Rouse (2007-2010) scored 18 goals with the Golden Gophers, plus 17 assists, for 53 total points in her career. After professional experience with the Minnesota Kings and the Vancouver Whitecaps, Rouse made several coaching stops before the Cambridge, Minnesota, native returned to the 'U' before the 2019 season.
Now, Rouse heads to St. George, Utah, where she takes the helm of a program transitioning from Division-II into the Western Athletic Conference of the NCAA's top division. Last season the Trailblazers made their second-ever NCAA Tournament.
