Gopher softball standouts Amber Fiser and Natalie DenHartog earned CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-District 6 honors on Thursday. The honorees are selected by CoSIDA, the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America, and remain eligible for Academic All-America consideration.

The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. This is the second time Fiser has earned CoSIDA accolades and the first time in DenHartog's career.

Fiser has a 3.66 cumulative GPA and will be graduating with a degree in business marketing. DenHartog has a 3.85 cumulative GPA and majors in communications studies.

Fiser, recently named the Female Athlete of the Year at the Golden Goldys, has established herself as one of the top hurlers in program history and in the NCAA. After the shortened 2020 season Fiser sits fifth in program history with 82 career wins and fifth in strikeouts with 811. She tossed 145 strikeouts in 2020 which led the Big Ten and was third in the country when the Big Ten and NCAA announced they were ceasing competitions and championships because of COVID-19 public health concerns. In 2019 she earned First-Team All-American honors, was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Year and was a Honda Cup Award finalist.

DenHartog splashed onto the scene as a freshman in 2019 and was on a tear in the 2020 season. She was named a Softball America First Team Shortened Season All-American after leading Minnesota in most offensive categories including hits (33), RBIs (28), home runs (7), batting average (.429) and on-base percentage (.537). As a freshman, she was named an NFCA Top-3 Freshman of the Year finalist and earned First-Team All-Big Ten honors.
