Bateman named First Team, while Morgan, Ibrahim and Andries collect Second-Team accolades

Athlon Sports recently announced its preseason Big Ten Football 2020 All-Conference Teams and seven Gophers – six on offense – were included.

Leading the way was Rashod Bateman who was named First-Team Offense. The preseason All-American was named the Big Ten Receiver of the Year in 2019 after making 60 catches for 1,219 yards (second most in school single-season history) and 11 touchdowns (tied for third most in school single-season history). Bateman was also a Biletnikoff Award Finalist last season and was named AP Third-Team All-America.

Tanner Morgan, Mohamed Ibrahim and Blaise Andries were all placed on the Second-Team Offense.

Morgan, who was named All-Big Ten Second Team last season, set school single-season records for passing yards (3,253) and passing touchdowns (30) last year. He also set school single-season records in completion percentage (66.0%), passing yards per game (250.2), pass efficiency rating (178.7) and touchdown-interception ratio (4.28).

Ibrahim is one of the hardest-to-tackle and physical backs in the nation and packs a lot of power in his 5-10 frame. He has played in 21 career games, but already ranks 24th on Minnesota's career rushing list with 1,764 yards. His 5.58 yards per carry average ranks seventh all-time in school history (minimum 200 carries) as well.

Andries is the first of three lineman honored, as he joins Morgan and Ibrahim on the second team. Daniel Faalele earned third team honors and Sam Schlueter was slotted on the fourth team.

Andries and Schlueter started all 13 games last season, while Faalele started 11. The trio blocked for an offense that totaled 5,616 yards (third most in school history), 3,293 passing yards (school record), 294 first downs (second most in school history), 443 points (second most in school history) and a scoring average of 34.1 points per game (three most in school history).

Defensive back Coney Durr was named Third-Team Defense by Athlon. He started all 13 games last year and tied for the team lead with 10 pass breakups. Durr, who made 33 tackles last season, also recorded one interception and returned it 72 yards for a touchdown against Maryland.
