Fleck rewards defensive back with a scholarship
University of Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck announced today that defensive back Bishop McDonald has been awarded a scholarship.
McDonald transferred to Minnesota after playing 23 games at Minnesota Duluth. He sat out the 2018 season in compliance with NCAA transfer rules and did not see any game action in 2019.
Last season, he competed in all seven games on special teams and made two tackles. Those stops came at Illinois and at Nebraska.
The Oakdale, Minn., native was a two-year starter at defensive back and running back at North St. Paul High School. He led all Minnesota preps with 12 interceptions in 2015 and was a finalist for Minnesota Mr. Football.
