Ibrahim named All-Big Ten First Team, Fourth-Team All America
Phil Steele Publications announced five Gophers to their All-Big Ten Team on Tuesday afternoon.
Mohamed Ibrahim adds another accolade to his resume with First Team honors. Conner Olson was placed on the Second Team, while Blaise Andries, Rashod Bateman and John Michael Schmitz earned Fourth Team recognition.
Ibrahim, who was named the Big Ten's running back of the year, also earned a sport on Phil Steele's All-American Fourth Team. He rushed 201 times (25th most in school single-season history) for 1,076 yards (23rd most in school single season-history) and 15 touchdowns (most ever for a junior at Minnesota and ranks fourth in school-single season history). Ibrahim led the Big Ten in the following categories: rushing attempts (201), rushing yards (1,076), rushing yards per game (153.7), rushing touchdowns (15), scoring (90), points per game (12.9) and all-purpose yards per game (168.4). He set a school record with a rushing average of 153.7 yards per game and tied a school record with four rushing touchdowns in a one game, doing so at Maryland and at Illinois.
Olson, Andries and Schmitz blocked for Ibrahim all season and for an offense that totaled 2,738 yards and averaged 27.3 points per game. They also protected quarterback Tanner Morgan, who completed 36 passes to Bateman. The skilled receiver played in five games and notched 472 receiving yards and two touchdowns before opting out for the rest of the season on Nov. 25. He averaged 94.40 receiving yards per game.
