Meet the Newcomers: Lucy Lu

Get to know the freshman from Colorado
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota women's tennis team welcomes five newcomers to the team for the 2021-22 season, including Lucy Lu. Lu is a freshman from Broomfield, Colorado, where she attended Niwot High School. She shares why she decided to become a Gopher, her life off the court, and more.
Gopher Sports: Why did you choose the University of Minnesota?
Lucy Lu: I chose the University of Minnesota because I really like the coaches, campus, and the academic programs.
GS: What field of study are you in; why?
LL: I am currently majoring in biochemistry and hope to minor in psychology. I really want to use these degrees to go into medical school.
GS: What hobbies do you have and enjoy doing in your free time?
LL: I enjoy hiking, skiing, and trying new foods.
GS: What is your family like?
LL: My family includes my little sister, parents, and grandmother. My family is super active and we enjoy celebrating our cultural traditions. We also love to travel.
GS: Other sports growing up?
LL: Tennis was always my primary sport but I have tried swimming and gymnastics, and I ski a lot every winter.
