NFL Recap: Eric Murray

Former Gopher just completed his fifth NFL season
University of Minnesota alum Eric Murray recently completed his fifth season in the NFL and first with the Houston Texans.
Murray, who signed a three-year contract with the Texas in the offseason, played in 14 games for Houston and made 71 tackles. He also recorded two sacks, broke up two passes and forced one fumble for the Texans.
Murray spent his first three seasons in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs before playing one year with the Cleveland Browns. He has played in 68 career games and has made 194 tackles. The 26-year-old safety has also broken up 10 passes, notched four sacks, made one interception, forced one fumble and recovered one fumble in the NFL.
Murray, who was drafted in 2016 by the Chiefs in the fourth round with the 106th overall pick, never missed a practice or game during his four-year career Gopher career. He played in 52 games and started 39 of them at corner. The lockdown defender, who was seldom tested by opposing quarterbacks, made 192 career tackles, which included 142 solo stops. Murray also registered 7.0 career tackles-for-loss, 24 pass breakups, two interceptions, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and two blocks. Murray was named All-Big Ten Third Team as a senior by both conference coaches and media.
