Gophers Add Rizzolo to 2021-2022 Roster

The University of Minnesota women's tennis team is excited to announce that Maria Rizzolo (Palm Beach Gardens, Florida) will join the Gophers for the 2021-22 season.

Rizzolo attended Laurel Springs High School and is scheduled to graduate this spring. Rizzolo is a 5-star recruit who was ranked as high at No. 29 in recruiting rankings. She hails from the same high school as current Gophers Dalila Said and Juliet Zhang. Rizzolo won both singles and doubles at the girl's 16s National Open. She is an ITA Oracle winner and was an ITF Grade 4 finalist. Rizzolo's reached her career-high ITF Juniors ranking of No. 504 last March. Paired with her sister, Kiana, Rizzolo became a National Open doubles winner and won the ITF Grade 5 doubles title.

"We are thrilled to have Maria joining our program!" said head coach Catrina Thompson. "She has competed at the highest level in juniors and Meghan [Kelly] and I anticipate her competing at the highest level in her collegiate career. We are looking forward to Maria joining us next fall."
