Gophers Season Comes to a Close at NCAA Championship Semifinal

The No. 8 University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team's historic season ended at the semifinals of the NCAA Championships on Friday afternoon. The team finished fourth in the first session with a final team score of 197.1875, finishing behind Michigan (197.8625), Florida (197.4375) and California (197.3625).

The 197.1875 team score is the highest Minnesota has ever produced at the NCAA tournament, with the previous high set at 196.375 in 2013 when the team placed 8th.
Individual champions will be determined Friday night after the conclusion of the second session of the semifinal and scores from both sessions are combined. After the first session, Ona Loper leads the way on vault with a 9.9625 and Mya Hooten is tied for first on floor with a 9.9500 . Lexy Ramler and Mary Korlin-Downs are tied for second on beam, while Loper is second in the all-around.

Loper was the top finisher for the Maroon and Gold in the all-around. Loper set a career-high 39.6375 with event scores of 9.9625 on vault, 9.9250 on floor and 9.8750 on both bars and beam.
Ramler ended her season with a 39.5625 all-around score with a 9.9250 on beam, 9.8875 on bars and 9.8750 on both fault and floor.

Vault
Loper earned the highest vault score for Minnesota as she received a 9.9625. A trio of Gophers in Mya Hooten, Ramler and Maddie Quarles added 9.8750s. Gianna Gerdes finished off the rotation with a 9.8000 to give the Maroon and Gold a team vault score of 49.3875.
Bars
Ramler and Loper led the way on bars with a 9.8875 and 9.8750, respectively. Hannah Willmarth was right behind after recording a 9.8625. Halle Remlinger added a 9.7625 to the team score and Mya Hooten a 9.7375, bringing Minnesota to a team uneven bars score of 49.1250.
Beam
Mary Korlin-Downs and Ramler had standout routines on beam, both earning 9.9250s. Loper scored a 9.8750 and Lexi Montgomery secured a 9.7500. Sales rounded out the rotation with a 9.7375. The Gophers finished with a beam score of 49.2125.
Floor
Minnesota recorded a team score of 49.4625, led by Hooten who earned a 9.9500 for her routine. Loper followed with a 9.9250. Two Gophers put up 9.8750s as the judges rewarded Mallory LeNeave and Ramler the same score for the rotation. Koch ended the session for the Maroon and Gold with a 9.8375.
