OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – University of Minnesota softball pitcher Amber Fiser is one of 10 finalists for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award®.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be classified as NCAA Division I seniors and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character, and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their athletic platforms to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
The finalists were chosen by a selection committee from the list of 30 candidates announced earlier this season. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner, and fans are encouraged to submit votes online at the Senior CLASS Award website through May 24. Fan votes will be combined with those of the media and Division I head coaches to determine the winner.
The Senior CLASS Award recipient for softball will be announced prior to the 2021 NCAA Women's College World Series® in June.
Fiser has already cemented herself in Gopher softball history. She ranks third in Minnesota program history in career wins (94) and fifth career strikeouts (917). In the shortened 2020 season, Fiser led the Big Ten and was third in the NCAA with 145 strikeouts. In 2019, Fiser was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Year, also earning first team NCAA All-American honors. That same year, she was named a Honda Cup Award and USA Softball Top-25 Player of the Year Finalist. Fiser completed her undergraduate degree in the Spring of 2020 in business and marketing education, carrying a 3.68 GPA. She is currently working towards a master's degree in sport management with a 4.0 GPA.
