Gopher Volleyball Announces 2021 Fall Schedule

The University of Minnesota volleyball program has announced its 2021 fall schedule with the Golden Gophers, facing some of the top programs in the sport. Minnesota will compete in eight nonconference matches before beginning a 20-match Big Ten conference schedule in September. Broadcast information and dates will follow at a later time.
Minnesota opens the 2021 fall campaign facing five opponents ranked in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll. The Gophers begin the season Aug. 27-28, when they face Baylor and TCU as a part of the newly-formed Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge. Wisconsin, the other Big Ten team in the opening tournament, will serve as the host in Madison, Wis.
The Gophers host their home opener against national runner-up Texas on Sept. 1. From there, Minnesota travels to Gainesville, Fla., to take on Florida, Sept. 5, and will compete in the Big Ten/Pac 12 Challenge on Sept. 10-11 where they will face Stanford and host Oregon, in Eugene, Ore.
Minnesota will host its annual Diet Coke Classic on Sept. 16 and Sept. 18 in a final tune up before the Big Ten season begins.
The Gophers open league action at home, Sept. 24 and Sept. 26, when Michigan and Maryland come to town. Minnesota is then on the road for the next four: at Wisconsin (Oct. 1), at Northwestern (Oct. 2), at Michigan (Oct. 8) and at Michigan State (Oct. 9).
Minnesota hosts four straight, starting off with Northwestern on Oct. 13, followed by Oct. 17 vs. Indiana, Oct. 22 against Penn State and Oct. 24 against Ohio State. After a single road match to Indiana (Oct. 27), the Gophers return to Maturi Pavilion on Oct. 30 against Nebraska.
The Maroon and Gold hit the road again for a three-match swing at Ohio State (Nov. 4), at Illinois (Nov. 6) and at Iowa (Nov. 12). The Gophers will host Purdue on Nov. 14 and Rutgers Nov. 19 before hosting a home season finale against the Badgers on Nov. 21. Minnesota closes out the regular season on the road against Penn State (Nov. 26) and Maryland (Nov. 27).
