The senior joins Bethany Hasz for extra year of eligibility
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - University of Minnesota cross country and track & field senior Abby Kohut-Jackson has announced that she will return to the Golden Gophers for the 2021-22 season, exercising her extra year of eligibility.
Kohut-Jackson joins fellow Minnesota senior Bethany Hasz in utilizing the extra season of competition, which was permitted under NCAA guidelines due to the circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I am so excited and grateful to be coming back for one more year," Kohut-Jackson said. "Our team has improved every season during my time here, and I couldn't turn down the opportunity to be part of that success for one last go-around. I'm looking forward to cherishing every bit of this last year with incredible teammates and friends."
This past season, Kohut-Jackson earned two First Team All-B1G honors, with conference titles in the 3000m steeplechase and the distance medley relay, where she ran the 1600-meter leg.
Kohut-Jackson was later named as a Second Team All-America selection after placing 11th in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
