Minnesota quarterback Tanner Morgan was named to the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award Watch List today. The award is presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback and is the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award.

Morgan, who was a semifinalist for the award in 2019, is one of 30 quarterbacks on the list and is just one of three signal-callers from the Big Ten.

Morgan is 18-8 as a starter and has completed 405 passes (seventh most in school history) of 653 attempts (eighth most in school history) for 6,028 yards (sixth most in school history) in his career. His career completion percentage of .620 (405-of-623) ranks first in school history and his 46 career touchdown passes ranks fourth. Morgan threw a touchdown pass in a school-record 18 consecutive games from Dec. 26, 2018 to Nov. 13, 2020.

Morgan owns 11 Minnesota season and game records and was named All-Big Ten Honorable Mention in 2020. In 2019, he was named All-Big Ten Second Team (2019), a Davey O'Brien Award semifinalist and a Manning Award finalist (2019).

The Gophers start the season at home at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2 at Huntington Bank Stadium against Ohio State. Minnesota recently announced full capacity for the upcoming season and tickets are available.
