University of Minnesota women's gymnastics head coach Jenny Hansen has announced the addition of Kiki Parenteau as volunteer assistant coach for the Golden Gophers.

"We are excited to welcome Kiki to the Golden Gopher family," Hansen said. "She has gained valuable experience since her time as a gymnast in Minnesota and will be able to step right into her role with our program. In addition, she brings great passion for the sport as well as the opportunity to be a part of this program and we can't wait to have her here working with the team."

A Minnesota native and gymnast at Southern Utah University, Parenteau was a standout on bars before injury prematurely ended her gymnastics career. She immediately turned to coaching and started to give back to the gymnastics community. Parenteau became the student volunteer coach for two seasons at Southern Utah and provided instruction to support SUU gymnasts on bars and beam.

After graduating, Parenteau gained valuable experience with Minnesota Aerials where she coached vault, bars, beam and floor while she also choreographed floor and beam. She spent one year at the Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy also coaching each event at various levels. Most recently, Parenteau spent three years coaching at Texas Dreams Gymnastics. In this position, she gained coaching experience at the Level 10 National Championships and had an athlete qualify to the Nastia Liukin Cup.

"After spending so many years away, I am excited that the University of Minnesota gave me this amazing opportunity to return back to my home state," Parenteau said. "I am beyond thrilled to be working with a program that I grew up not only watching, but supporting. I am looking forward to my first season with the Gophers!"

Parenteau graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern Utah University with a bachelor's degree in family life and human development, emphasis in family services.

Prior to her college career, Parenteau was a four-time regional qualifier and four-time National TOPS team member. In 2005, she qualified to compete at the international elite level.

Parenteau competed for Flips Gymnastics and was a level 10 national qualifier in 2011.
