Gophers Head to Northfield for St. Olaf College Invite

The Minnesota men's and women's cross country teams will continue on their 2021 campaign this weekend at the 50th Annual St. Olaf Invitational. The meet will be hosted by St. Olaf College on the St. Olaf Championship course, with race times slated to begin at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. for the men and women, respectively.
WHO'S THERE
19 teams will be represented at the meet, including Minnesota, eight MIAC schools and numerous other teams across the Midwest. A full list of teams can be found through the "Meet Information" link above.
LAST TIME OUT
In the Gophers last time out, Minnesota made their mark at the Spiked Shoe Invitational in University Park, Pa. There, the women managed to secure a second place team finish led by third place overall finisher Bethany Hasz, while the men finished fourth behind a team-high fifth place finish from senior Alec Basten. Hasz's time of 20:47.2 bested every other Big Ten competitor at the event, and earned her the Big Ten Conference Women's Athlete of the Week honor.
GOPHERS IN THE RANKINGS
The Minnesota women's squad will enter the meet ranked No. 10 in the nation via the USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll. The Gophers were one of six Big Ten teams to earn a seed in the national rankings, alongside Michigan State (fifth), Michigan (ninth), Illinois (17th), Indiana (18th) and Wisconsin (28th). Regionally, the women remain as the top-ranked team in the Midwest division, followed by Illinois, Oklahoma State and Iowa State. The men maintained their Midwest Regional ranking of fourth.

Both the men's and women's programs will return home in their next time out, as they prepare to host the 35th Annual Roy Griak Invitational on Friday, Sept. 24. Race time for the home opener is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m., tickets to which can be found through the link above.
