Minnesota will face St. Cloud State on Nov. 20 at Ridder Arena.
MINNEAPOLIS --Â The U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum announced on Tuesday that the Gopher women's hockey team will host the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum Women's Face-Off Classic. The Gophers will host in-state rivals St. Cloud State at Ridder Arena on Nov. 20.Â
This is Minnesota's second time participating in this event in the past three seasons. In 2019, the Gophers defeated Minnesota State 4-0 at Dakotah! Ice Center in Prior Lake, Minn. This year, the 'U' will look to maintain its hold on the Hall of Fame Game Trophy.Â
"We're thrilled to be invited to play in a prestigious game like this against one of our in-state rivals," said head coach Brad Frost. "It's a great opportunity to shine the spotlight on women's hockey in Minnesota."
This year, the Gophers will have some U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame experience on the bench. Gopher assistant coach, and 2018 inductee, Natalie Darwitz will be one of the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame members acknowledged at the event.
"It will be a particularly special night having Natalie back behind the bench and coaching in the Hall of Fame Game, knowing that she is a member of that elite group," said Frost.
