Stephanie Samedy Named Big Ten Player of the Week

The senior tallied 30 kills Friday night in a win over Michigan
MINNEAPOLIS -- University of Minnesota redshirt senior opposite Stephanie Samedy was named Big Ten Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. It's her second player of the week honor this season and tenth of her career.
The Clermont, Fla., native tallied her second 30-kill match of the season on Friday in a five set victory over Michigan while adding 17 digs, three blocks and an ace. She had another double double in a three set sweep of Maryland on Sunday with 11 kills, 14 digs and five blocks.
Samedy leads the Big Ten in both points (5.64) and kills (5.09) per set and is the only Power Five player to average more than five kills per set. A four-time All-American, Samedy has led Minnesota in kills in eight of the nine matches she's played in this year. She has two 30+ kill matches this season, one of just two players in the league to have 30-or-more kills in a match this year.
The Gophers (7-3, 2-0 Big Ten) have played top-15 ranked opponents in five of their 10 matches this season and are on a six match winning streak. Minnesota moved back into the top-10 at No. 9 last week and moved up to No. 7 in today's rankings.
