The former Gophers opposite is playing professionally in Germany
Former Gophers five-time All-American Stephanie Samedy has started her professional volleyball career in Germany with SSC Palmberg Schwerin. She signed at the end of December and joined the roster at the turn of the new year.
"I'm looking forward to my first season in the Volleyball Bundesliga and I'm really excited about what awaits me here," Samedy said shortly after arriving in Germany.
She arrived in Schwerin just in time to compete in the second half of the team's season as it looks to make a run at the European Cup. The team currently ranks fifth out of 12 teams in the league standings. Former Gopher Hannah Tapp (2013-16) also signed with SSC Palmberg Schwerin in January of 2017.
The two-time Big Ten Player of the Year lands overseas after a historic collegiate career. The only Gopher to reach four-time First Team All-American status four times, she was the second player in Big Ten history to tally 2,000 kills and 1,500 digs in her career. Samedy helped the Gophers reach three Sweet 16's, an Elite Eight and a Final Four in her five seasons in the maroon and gold.
