Gophers Set to Celebrate 2022 National Girls and Women in Sports Day

University of Minnesota Athletics is excited to celebrate the 2022 National Girls and Women in Sports Day presented by PNC Bank. Golden Gopher Athletics will offer exciting programming for girls of all ages and a special ticket discount in conjunction with NGWSD when five Gopher women's programs host eight events at home Friday-Sunday, February 4-6 after NGWSD on Wednesday, February 2.
An exclusive NGWSD tickets are available for just $5 for this weekend's women's events only!
February 4
- Swimming and Diving First Chance Meet (FREE)
- Women's Tennis vs. Northern Iowa @ 2:30pm (FREE)
- Women's Tennis vs. North Dakota @ 6pm (FREE)
- Women's Hockey vs. Bemidji State @ 6pm | $5 tickets!

Special programming for girls of all ages will be available throughout the weekend. Youth can sign up to participate in the Youth Takeover at Women's Hockey on Friday vs. Bemidji State. In celebration of 50 Years of Gopher Women Varsity Athletics, 10 lucky girls 8th grade and under will get the chance to shadow an employee for the night and see what it is like to work for Gopher Women's Hockey. Stay late after the Gopher women's hockey game on Saturday and participate a FREE post-game skate! During the game, the Gophers will celebrate 25 Season of varsity women's hockey and are inviting alumnae back to celebrate the big event.
For Gopher women's basketball on Sunday, Minnesota will host their annual Play4Kay Pink Game! Fans will receive FREE pink pom poms while supplies last and raise awareness of breast cancer.
Finally, FREE drawstring bags are available at all women's events during the Gophers' NGWSD weekend and can be picked up at any of marketing tables, while supplies last.
Please note that the University of Minnesota has announced that it will require attendees at indoor events with 200 or more spectators to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative, third-party COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the event. The temporary policy will start on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, and will end on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022. The COVID-19 vaccine requirement applies to all attendees age five and older.
