‘U’ Raises Academic Standard for Eighth-Straight Semester

Minnesota's 3.43 cumulative grade point average is a school record.

MINNEAPOLIS – University of Minnesota student-athletes finished the 2021 fall semester with the highest cumulative grade point average in department history, according to information released today by the John & Nancy Lindahl Academic Center.

With a 3.43 cumulative grade point average for all student-athletes, the department has now improved its academic performance in eight-straight semesters while all Maroon & Gold programs recorded a team cumulative grade point average of 3.15 or higher.

Additionally, the University of Minnesota student-athletes posted a term grade point average of 3.31 for the fall semester. The five best term grade point averages in department history have now come in the last five semesters.

"Our student-athletes have continued to rise to the challenge semester after semester, and we are incredibly proud of the way they represent the department and the University of Minnesota," Lindahl Academic Center Director JT Bruett said. "We would also like to recognize the efforts of the Lindahl Academic Center staff as well as the outstanding support our student-athletes receive from our coaches, athletic administration, campus partners and all who support Gopher Athletics."
