Zumwinkle, Vetter Honored with WCHA Weekly Awards

Grace Zumwinkle earns her eighth-career WCHA Forward of the Week while Skylar Vetter is named Goaltender of the Week for the second time.
MINNEAPOLIS – Fifth-year forward Grace Zumwinkle and sophomore goaltender Skylar Vetter were both named WCHA weekly award winners on Tuesday afternoon after a dominant series sweep over Minnesota State.
Grace Zumwinkle earned her first WCHA honor of the season and the eighth WCHA Forward of the Week award of her career. The captain tallied four goals over the weekend, including her fourth career hat-trick on Friday, and added three assists and a plus-five rating. With those four goals, she moved into a tie for eighth in program history in career goals with 89. The Excelsior, Minn., native has posted 9 points (5g-4a) in four games since returning to the Maroon and Gold lineup.
Skylar Vetter earned her second career WCHA Goaltender of the Week honor of her career after allowing zero goals across four periods of hockey this weekend. Vetter started in goal for Minnesota on Friday, stopping all 17 shots to earn her second-career shutout. On Saturday, the Lakeville, Minn., native took over in goal in the third period and slammed the door on a Gopher sweep with two saves. This season, Vetter has posted a 2-0-0 record with a 0.44 GAA and a .971 Sv%.
No. 2 Minnesota (4-0-0) will face St. Cloud State (2-4-0) in a home-and-home series this weekend. Puck drop is slated for 3:00 pm in St. Cloud on Friday and 2:00 pm at Ridder Arena on Saturday.
