MINNEAPOLIS – Sophia Boman, McKenna Buisman, Gabbie Cesarone, Elizabeth Overberg, and Megan Plaschko were named to the 2022 CSC Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team on Tuesday.

The 2022 Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. These honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.

Boman, a junior midfielder, led Minnesota in assists (six), scoring five goals, while starting and competing in all 19 matches for the Golden Gophers this season. The Edina, Minn., native competed in 1,638 minutes and scored a game winning brace against Marquette early in the season. A biology major, Boman earned Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week nods (Sept. 13) and was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team to finish off the 2022 season.

Completing her graduate season with eight points, Buisman recorded two goals and four assists in 2022. Both of her goals came against top ten opponents in No. 7 TCU and No. 6 Michigan State. The Mankato, Minn., native is earning her Masters in medical industry studies.

A graduate transfer from WashU, Cesarone made a big impact in her one-year stint with the Maroon & Gold. The St. Charles, Ill., native ended the season leading Minnesota in goals (six), field player minutes (1,670), and game-winning goals (four). Majoring in public health admin and policy, Cesarone was recognized as Big Ten Defender of the Week on Oct. 11 and recognized to the All-Big Ten Second and All-Big Ten Tournament Teams.

A key player in Minnesota's 3-0-2 streak to end the regular season, Overberg competed in 13 matches while starting the last six games in the backline. One of three Golden Gophers that hail from Iowa, Overberg competed in 815 minutes this past season. Notably, Overberg assisted one of Izzy Brown's three goals in their match against Drake.

A senior captain, Plaschko rounds out the five Gophers to be selected to the Academic All-District Team. A double major in marketing and communication studies, the goalkeeper was the only member of Minnesota's squad to compete in every minute of every match this season. Picking up six shutouts, she was named to the Big Ten's Preseason Players to Watchlist and picked up Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week nods on Oct. 11.
