Gophers Showcase 2023 Team at Intrasquad Meet
12/11/2022 9:13:00 PM | Gymnastics
The University of Minnesota gymnastics program held their annual intrasquad meet on Sunday evening, welcoming a few new Gopher faces to Maturi Pavilion for the first time.Â
"I'm super proud of the way the team did today," head coach Jenny Hansen said. "We had really high hit percentages all throughout, and I think it was great to see the newcomers and how well they did being in the Pav and in the different environment. So we really feel good about where we're at right now and just excited to keep working on the little things so that we're really ready come January."
Junior Gianna Gerdes finished with an all-around score of 38.975, followed by Sophomore Marissa Jencks with a score of 38.950.Â
"Being in the Pav today was so awesome. I think it really hyped all of us up for the season and gave us a feel for where we are and what we still need to improve on," Gerdes said. "But I think the team had a great time and we're super excited to be back here in January. Go Gophers!"
Junior Mya Hooten ended the night with an all-around score of 38.750, and freshman Seria Johnson ended with a score of 38.450 across all four events.Â
"It was exhilarating," Johnson said. "The energy in the Pav is unlike any other and just the confidence that was in the arena is absolutely amazing. I had a blast being in the Pav."
