It's her second All-American honor of her career
MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota redshirt sophomore outside Taylor Landfair has been named an American Volleyball Coaches Association First Team All-American, it was announced today by the organization. It's her second career All-America honor as she earned AVCA All-America Honorable Mention as a true freshman in the spring of 2021.
The Plainfield, Ill., native had a sensational third season on campus, leading the conference and ranking in the top-20 nationally in both points (4.91) and kills (4.35) per set. She posted 28Â 10+ kill matches, including 20 15+ kill matches and five 20+ kill matches. She posted a career-high 28 kills in a four-set win over Oregon on Sept. 9. She added three 10+ dig matches and had 11 games with three-or-more blocks. The sophomore also hit .257 for the year.
In 2022, Landfair was named the Big Ten Player of the Year, the AVCA North Region Player of the Year and now an AVCA First Team All-American. She was named Big Ten Player of the Week four times this year and AVCA Player of the Week once. She made the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge All-Tournament Team and was named Most Valuable Player after a strong two-game performance to open the season against Baylor and TCU. Overall, Landfair had a phenomenal comeback season after she appeared in just nine games last year, missing the other 23 games due to an ab injury.
It's the 12th straight year a Golden Gopher has earned AVCA All-America honors, including the eighth consecutive with a first team selection. Landfair will be honored this Friday at the Final Four during the AVCA's annual All-American banquet.
