Krapf joins Minnesota after one year with the Duke Blue Devils

MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota head softball coach Piper Ritter has announced the addition of transfer catcher Taylor Krapf to Minnesota's roster for the upcoming season. Krapf joins the Gophers after playing her freshman year at Duke.

"I chose the University of Minnesota because it felt like the perfect environment to finish my academic and softball career," said Krapf. "The coaches and team were so genuine and embody the same values I was looking for. As soon as I stepped on campus, everyone was so welcoming and I feel like this program will help me excel in all aspects of life."

In her one-year stint with the Blue Devils, Krapf made 26 appearances with three starts, including two home runs and seven RBI. The Oviedo, Fla., native saw her first collegiate home run in a win against Florida A&M on Feb. 19.

Notably, the incoming sophomore had a three-run home run in a win against James Madison and competed in two post-season games last season; including an NCAA Super Regional game against UCLA.

Prior to her collegiate career, Krapf was a four-year letter winner at Winter Springs High School. A four-year starter, she led her team to win a FHSAA Regional Championship and FHSAA 8A State Championship. According to Extra Innings Softball, Krapf was ranked as the No. 18 prospect in the country coming out of high school.

The daughter of Joseph and Careen Krapf, Taylor has two siblings, brother, Jeremy and sister, Brooke. The USA Elite World Fastpitch Championship MVP intends to major in biological sciences and pursue a career in the medical field.
