If you were writing a letter to yourself, what would be the 3 points of wisdom regarding being black?
  • Always maintain a great work ethic
  • You will receive a lot of No's in your career, do not let that deter from your dream or goal the right "yes" will come
  • If something has never been done before or there is no blueprint on how to do it be the first, anything is possible
What advice would you give to a young person of color dreaming to do your job in athletics?
There will be many times in your career where you will be the only person of color in the room, meeting, and/or on staff always maintaining confidence and kindness, you deserve to be there.

What does Black History Month mean to you? How has the summer of 2020 changed it?
Black History Month means celebrating the lives and culture of all blacks, especially the ones that have pioneered change for us and our world. It's a time in the year where we have a chance to be celebrated when there are many times in our lives we are the minority. It also means remembering the people we have lost and the lessons they have taught us. Summer of 2020 put racial injustice and inequality on the forefront. It helped bring not only the black community together but many people around the world to advocate for what is right and wrong. Even though we have made tremendous progress towards racism and inequality, there is still a long way for us to go.

How old and where were you when you heard I have a Dream speech for the 1st time?
Middle school, in class

What would be your theme song for Black History Month?
Hope by Twista ft. Faith Evans

How have you been influenced or inspired by other black athletes, role models, or leaders in your life?
I have been influenced and inspired by many different people throughout my life. I would start at the core which would be the people that are in my life from my parents, grandparents, extended family, and my friends all in different ways, they have taught me lessons and showed me things within myself. I also have been inspired by influential black leaders and athletes in many ways, a lot of the time with the notion that hard work and dedication can take you places you never dreamed you would be in.
