Senior Send-Off! Gophers Tie Second Best Team Score Ever, Post Team Record on Floor

Super Seniors Loper and Ramler tie for all-around title, Hooten records perfect 10 on floor
The No. 8 University of Minnesota gymnastics team completed its regular season on Saturday afternoon with a home quad-meet against LIU, Temple and Utah State in front of a record-crowd of 4,240 at Maturi Pavilion. Mya Hooten recorded her third perfect 10 on the season, the Gophers set a team record on floor and Minnesota tied its second best score ever with a 197.850. The Gophers also recorded a 197.850 last week at Utah and set a program record 198.025 two weeks ago at home against Iowa.
Minnesota also honored its seven seniors – Ona Loper, Abbie Nylin, Lexy Ramler, Tiarre Sales, Ali Sonier, Maddie Quarles and Hannah Willmarth – after this afternoon's meet.

Hooten recorded her third perfect 10 of the season on the floor on Saturday. The sophomore also scored a perfect 10 at home against Michigan and Iowa this year. Hooten, who is the only Gopher ever to score a perfect 10 on the floor, also had a perfect 10 last year against Nebraska. Minnesota counted five scores of 9.900 or better on the floor and set a program record of 49.750 on Saturday night. Minnesota's four highest bar scores in program history have all come this year, as the Gophers scored a 49.725 against Michigan, a 49.700 against Ohio State and a 49.650 against Iowa.

All-Around
It's only fitting that Ramler and Loper, who have defined excellence for the last five years, tied for first in the all-around at 39.650. Ramler, who has now won more than 100 events in her Gopher career, had a 9.850 on vault, a 9.900 on bars and a 9.950 on both beam and floor. Loper finished with a 9.925 on vault, a 9.900 on bars, a 9.875 on beam and a 9.950 on floor.

Vault
Minnesota opened the meet with a 49.300 on the vault and was once again led by Loper. The super senior entered the meet ranked No. 2 in the nation, and led the Gophers on Saturday with a 9.925. Hooten, who won the vault last week at Utah, scored a 9.875 and was then followed by both Ramler and Emily Koch at 9.850. Gianna Gerdes and Maddie Quarles rounded out the scoring for Minnesota as both scored a 9.800.
Bars
Minnesota had 98.725 points after two rotations after scoring a 49.425 on the bars. Loper and Ramler both totaled a 9.900 to lead the Gophers. A trio of Gophers – Hooten, Hannah Willmarth and Tiarre Sales – all scored a 9.875. Hooten tied her career high with the mark. Halle Remlinger scored a 9.800 for Minnesota.
Beam
Minnesota's beam team continued to turn in a strong performance for the third week in a row, as the Gophers tied their third-highest score of the season with a 49.375. Ramler, who has four perfect 10s on the beam in her career, led Minnesota with a 9.950 in the anchor position. She was followed by Koch who turned in a season high 9.900. Gerdes tied her career high with a 9.875, which was the same score that Loper had. Abbie Nylin completed the scoring with a 9.775 for Minnesota.
Floor
Minnesota ended the night in a big way on the floor as the team set a new program record with a 49.750. The Gophers were led by Hooten, who recorded her third perfect 10 of the season and fourth of her career. Ramler and Loper each scored a 9.950 and so did Remlinger, who set a career high. Gerdes closed the scoring for the Gophers with a 9.900.

Minnesota will compete in the Big Ten championships on Saturday, March 19, in Columbus, Ohio. The Gophers are the defending champions as they won the meet last year when they recorded a then-team best 197.750 as the host.
