Carter Booth up for USA Today Girls Volleyball Player of the Year

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota volleyball's 2022 middle blocker Carter Booth (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek H.S.) has been named a nominee for the USA Today High School Girls Volleyball Player of the Year, the publication announced Wednesday. Booth enrolled at Minnesota in January of 2022 and has been working out with the team this spring.

One of the 24 nominees will be honored as the national Girls Volleyball Player of the Year. The winner, along with three finalists, will be revealed July 31 during an on-demand broadcast, which this year will feature top athletes in 29 boys and girls sports awards categories as well as special honors like Special Olympics Athlete of the Year, Rising Star and Play of the Year.

A 6-foot-7 middle blocker, Booth came to Minnesota as a two-time Under Armour All-American selection and the No. 1 2022 recruit in Colorado, according to multiple recruiting outlets. The 2021 Colorado Gatorade Player of the Year, Booth tallied 681 kills, 346 blocks (86 solo), 61 aces, 138 digs and a .390 attacking percentage during her high school career.

As a senior, she led Cherry Creek to a 26-2 record and the Class 5A state championship and amassed 335 kills to go with 127 blocks, 70 digs and 35 service aces, while recording a .453 hitting percentage.  A First Team Under Armour All-American, she was selected the Class 5A Player of the Year and was ranked as the nation's No. 14 prospect in the Class of 2022 by PrepVolleyball.com.
