Gophers Host DePaul for Gavitt Tipoff Games

The University of Minnesota men's basketball team will face DePaul University as a part of the 2022 Gavitt Tipoff Games, announced today by the Big Ten and BIG EAST Conferences. The Golden Gophers and Blue Demons are slated to play on Monday, Nov. 14 at Williams Arena. Television information will be announced at a later date, with games appearing on FS1 or BTN.
This will be the Gophers' fourth appearance in the Gavitt Tipoff Games, which features eight matchups between the Big Ten and BIG EAST Conferences. The series, which started in 2015, is named in honor of Hall of Famer Dave Gavitt, the founder of the BIG EAST. The 2022 campaign marks the seventh year of this event, as 2020 was canceled due to COVID-19. The event is named in honor of Hall of Famer Dave Gavitt, founder of the BIG EAST and basketball visionary.
The Gophers are 2-1 in the Gavitt Tipoff Games. Minnesota's last appearance in the Gavitt games dates back to 2019 when the Gophers played at Butler and fell to the Bulldogs, 64-56. Minnesota defeated St. John's (92-86) in 2016 and Providence (86-74) in 2017.
Minnesota is 8-10 all-time against DePaul, dating back to 1933. The Gophers and Blue Demons last faced each other on Nov. 29, 2019, also at Williams Arena, where the Gophers fell 73-68.
