Schmitz Named Preseason First Team All-American by Athlon Sports

All-Big Ten standout has started 23 career games for the Gophers
Athlon Sports recently announced its 2022 Preseason All-America Team and Minnesota center John Michael Schmitz was named to the First Team.
This is another preseason All-America honor for Schmitz, who many consider the favorite for the 2022 Rimington Award.
Schmitz was named All-Big Ten Second Team last season by the coaches and All-Big Ten Third Team by the media. The four-time Academic All-Big Ten standout has played in 44 career games and has made 23 starts at center for the Gophers.
