Heise, Vetter Named National Players of the Month by HCA

Taylor Heise earns her third career National Player of the Month Honor, while Skylar Vetter is named National Goaltender of the Month for the first time.
MINNEAPOLIS – Fifth-year forward Taylor Heise and sophomore goaltender Skylar Vetter have been named national monthly award winners by the Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) on Wednesday afternoon.
Taylor Heise earned her third-career HCA National Player of the Month honor after a dominant month of December in which she tallied 15 points in only four games. Heise matched a career-high in points twice in the month with five points against Minnesota State on Dec. 3 and against No. 14 St. Cloud State on Dec. 10. Minnesota's captain tallied a career-high four assists against the Huskies on Dec. 9 as part of a career-high nine-point weekend. The Lake City, Minn., native was named National Player of the Month twice last season (Nov. and Feb.).
Skylar Vetter has earned her first-career HCA National Goaltender of the Month honor after an accolade-filled month that included her second WCHA Goaltender of the Month award this season and two WCHA Goaltender of the Week honors. The sophomore netminder posted a 4-0-0 record against Minnesota State and No. 14 St. Cloud State while only allowing one goal on 68 shots throughout the month. Vetter's three consecutive shutouts to close out 2022 extended her currently-active shutout streak to 226:23.
