2/21/2023 3:59:00 PM | Women's Basketball
MINNEAPOLIS – Katie Borowicz of the University of Minnesota women's basketball team has earned a spot on the 2022-23 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team, it was announced Tuesday.
Recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution in order to be nominated. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.
Borowicz has appeared in 26 of 27 games for the Maroon and Gold this season and has started in 17. The Roseau, Minn., native averages 8.8 points per game and 3.1 assists per game and shoots 86.3 percent from the free throw line. This season Borowicz has reached double figures in 11 different games, including five games against Big Ten opponents. She hit two free throws with 0.5 seconds left against Penn State to tie the game and send the game into overtime where the Gophers won. She has posted five five-steal performances this season and has dished out five or more steals in seven different games this season. Borowicz also is in the top 20 in the Big Ten this season in steals per game at 1.8.
Minnesota takes on Michigan State on the road on Feb. 22, before ending the regular season at home against Purdue on Feb. 26. Both games will be streamed live on B1G+ and can be heard on the iHeartRadio app or on KFAN+.
